Slain Taxi Boss Thamsanqa Moya To Be Laid To Rest In Soweto As Police Probe Shooting

The family of slain Gauteng taxi official, Thamsanqa Moya, is reeling after his shocking murder.
Moya, who served as the National Taxi Alliance’s Gauteng chairperson, was fatally shot along the Soweto Highway last week while traveling to a taxi meeting in Johannesburg’s CBD.
A memorial service in his honour is currently taking place at the Diepkloof Community Hall in Soweto, where relatives, colleagues, and community members have gathered to pay their respects.
Police Hunt for Suspects in Thamsanqa Moya Murder
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the assassination is under way. Police are actively searching for the suspects behind the killing, but no arrests have yet been made.
The shooting has once again shown the ongoing tensions and violence linked to the taxi industry.
“He Was About to Retire” – Family Speaks Out
Speaking at the memorial, Moya’s sister Bongi Dladla expressed the family’s heartbreak, revealing that he was preparing to step away from the industry next year.
“My brother saw the taxi industry as a daily job and not a war zone, he was at work. He had passion of what he was doing because he grew up seeing what’s happening in this industry.

“If only the person who did this knew that my brother was about to retire as he was turning 60 next year.”
