Sizwe Dhlomo Blasts Minister Gayton McKenzie: “The Guy Is An Idiot”

Media personality Sizwe Dhlomo is back in the headlines — and this time, he’s got South Africans talking after taking a sharp swipe at Minister of Arts, Culture and Sport Gayton McKenzie.

Known for never holding back his opinions, Sizwe once again went for the jugular on Thursday when an X (formerly Twitter) user asked if he’d ever consider hosting McKenzie on his radio show.

The fan wrote: “Would you invite Gayton to your show? It seems like you dislike the guy.”

Without missing a beat, Dhlomo fired back:

“To do what here? The guy is an idiot.”

That one line was all it took to light up social media.

Sizwe’s blunt response quickly trended, dividing fans between those who praised his honesty and others who urged him to be more diplomatic — especially when dealing with a government minister.

One user advised:

“Tone it down. You can still get your point across without using insults. How many idiots do you know of that have a similar background as Gayton who go on to be wealthy as him? Sobe singekho thina when shit hits the fan. X is not a real place. Sengihembe.”

Another weighed in with a challenge:

“I know u have a personal life and this @SizweDhlomo account is very much part of that, but u do work for @KayaON959 and the guy is a minister of sports, so maybe u wanna invite the guy and prove that he’s that much of an idiot…”

And one fan simply questioned the tone:

“Oupsss, but he is a leader of a growing party and he is also a parent… Why call him an idiot?”

This isn’t the first time Sizwe Dhlomo has thrown shade at Gayton McKenzie — and if history is any indicator, it probably won’t be the last. The outspoken broadcaster has made it clear he’s not a fan, and every jab seems to draw more attention than the last.

McKenzie has yet to respond publicly to the latest insult.
