Siya Kolisi Reacts As Springboks Collapse Against Wallabies After 22–0 Lead

The Springboks suffered a dramatic 38–22 defeat to Australia in their Rugby Championship clash at Ellis Park, despite storming to an early 22–0 lead. South Africa looked untouchable in the opening 20 minutes, scoring three quick tries to take control of the match.

But the Wallabies mounted a stunning comeback, completely overturning the scoreline and leaving the Boks to reflect on a bitter collapse.

Kolisi: “It’s Simply Not Good Enough”

Captain Siya Kolisi admitted his disappointment, calling the performance unacceptable at international level.

“We really let ourselves down, and we have to own that,” the 34-year-old said. “It’s simply not good enough. You start strong, then ease off — that’s not acceptable at this level. It just isn’t.”

Kolisi, who played at number 8, also credited Australia’s Fraser McReight, who was named Man of the Match.

“We’d fight our way into their 22, only for them to turn the ball over. It’s what they do, and they do it well. You saw Fraser McReight nail it; he was outstanding and deserved Man of the Match,” Kolisi added.

Springboks Promise Stronger Response

Despite the setback, Kolisi thanked the fans for their support and vowed that the Springboks would bounce back in the return fixture.

“Thank you to everybody who supported us. Sorry about the performance, but we’ll come again next week,” he concluded.
