Six Suspects Arrested After Armed Robbery At KwaZakhele Primary School

Six suspects, aged between 16 and 25, have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a primary school in KwaZakhele, Eastern Cape, where staff members were robbed of electronic devices and other valuables.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident took place on Tuesday morning at a school in Tubali Street, with police later recovering some of the stolen property during follow-up operations.
KwaZakhele Primary School Principal Robbed At Gunpoint
Police said three armed suspects entered the principal's office at around 9am, where they allegedly threatened him with firearms before stealing a laptop, tablet, cellphone and vehicle keys.
The principal was then allegedly locked inside his office.

KwaZakhele Police Recover Stolen School Property
Members of the KwaZakhele Social Crime Prevention Unit launched patrols in the surrounding area after receiving information about the suspects.
Police spotted three men matching the descriptions provided, but the group fled when they noticed the patrol vehicle.

During the chase, one of the suspects allegedly dropped a grey backpack before running away.
Officers arrested one juvenile suspect after pursuing the group. Inside the backpack, police recovered two laptops, a tablet and laptop chargers.
The school principal positively identified the recovered items as property stolen during the robbery.
Six Suspects To Appear In Court Over School Robbery
Police conducted further investigations and operations on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of five additional suspects believed to have been involved in the robbery.
The six suspects are expected to appear before the New Brighton Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges of business robbery.
Investigators are also looking into whether the suspects may be linked to other crimes committed in Motherwell and surrounding policing areas.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional charges could be added as inquiries continue.
