Siv Ngesi Slams Double Standards Over Milnerton High Bullying Outrage

While relaxing with a packet of biltong, media personality Siv Ngesi has shared his thoughts on the viral video of a bullying incident at Milnerton High School in Cape Town.

“I feel like the kids should be punished, I feel like the kids should pay the price. But I just want to address one thing, about this particular incident that fascinates me about people in the comments,” said Ngesi.

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows pupils attacking a fellow schoolmate with various objects, including a belt and a hockey stick. The disturbing footage sparked public outrage, with parents staging protests outside the school to demand accountability.

The victim’s mother revealed that her 16-year-old son had completed chemotherapy earlier this year. The alleged bullies have since been charged with aggravated assault and placed on precautionary suspension after appearing in court on Thursday.

Siv Ngesi Criticises Public Hypocrisy and Selective Outrage

“I want those boys to be punished; they need to be punished. They need to be held accountable, I hope their parents f**k up…but what you guys are asking for, I’m not seeing the same kind of passion for someone who stole two billion rand at Tembisa hospital,” Ngesi said in his video.

The outspoken actor went on to challenge society’s inconsistency in reacting to different forms of wrongdoing, referencing South Africa’s ongoing battles with rape culture, gender-based violence, and high-level corruption.

“…We can’t have double standards here, and I don’t believe those kids should have punishments that are gonna destroy their entire lives,” he added.

Ngesi also rejected suggestions that the alleged bullies should be barred from writing their matric exams. “What the f**k, the kids should be suspended, they should do community service, they should go for anger management training, but telling me they should lose their entire lives, no guys,” he said.

Milnerton High School’s Culture Under Scrutiny

The television star also took aim at Milnerton High School for its response to the incident, after it advised people not to circulate the video.

“That culture at Milnerton needs to change. The friends of mine that have come out, talking about the scars they have from being at Milnerton, no, the school must be held accountable. The school must talk,” Ngesi stated.

He revealed that current and former pupils had reached out to him to share their experiences of bullying at the school. “I’ve heard that even though the first team rugby boys can do what the f**k they want. That’s why they’re so confident in that video.”

Social media users have since tagged SA Rugby after claims surfaced that one of the boys involved in the assault is a Junior Bok player.
