SIU Drops Hammer On Company Linked To Anele Mdoda’s Husband Over R14 Million PPE Scandal

A company tied to media queen Anele Mdoda’s husband has just been ordered to cough up serious cash after scoring big from dodgy COVID-19 PPE deals. And trust, the tea is hot!

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a major legal win, forcing Tark Group (Pty) Ltd to pay back profits made from contracts worth over R14 million. The ruling comes after the Special Tribunal declared those deals unlawful and completely invalid. IYOH!

So here’s the scoop: Tark Group, previously known as Tuwo Rhodesi, is partly owned by Bonelela Mgudlwa — who just happens to be married to Anele Mdoda. The company, along with co-owner Katleho O’Hara Mokonyane, reportedly cashed in BIG during the pandemic through questionable PPE tenders.

SIU PPE Tender Crackdown: No More “Easy Money”

According to the SIU, the whole process was riddled with red flags — from skipping proper tender procedures to appointing a supplier that allegedly didn’t even have the correct health regulatory approvals.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health also caught smoke in the ruling, with findings that officials bypassed key procurement steps and approved non-compliant bids.

Even though the department didn’t fight the case, the damage was already done — and now the SIU is making it VERY clear: if you eat from dodgy state deals, you WILL pay it back. Period.

The investigation was launched under the direction of President Cyril Ramaphosa during the height of COVID-19 corruption concerns, and it looks like the clean-up is far from over.

The SIU says it’s still coming for anyone who benefited unlawfully — and if there’s criminal evidence? The case gets handed over to the National Prosecuting Authority. EISH
