Centurion residents were stirred early this morning as law enforcement officers executed a search and seizure at the home of suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.

The operation, described as “secret,” involved the National Intervention Unit, Special Task Force, and Crime Intelligence, with some officers stationed near the property as early as 3am. Several electronic devices were confiscated during the raid.

Sibiya Confirms Search Relates to Multiple Charges

Sibiya confirmed that officers presented him with a search and seizure warrant connected to several charges, including defeating the ends of justice, corruption, and money laundering.

“I was under the impression that it was going to happen. I’m expecting it anytime. General Mkhwanazi said yesterday that it’s imminent – it’s been imminent since last year – so I’m still waiting,” Sibiya said.

He explained that the raid focused on removing gadgets and cellphones from the premises, a standard procedure in such operations. “They came to conduct a search and seizure. They normally look for the gadgets and the cellphones of everybody who’s in the yard,” he added.
