Shocking Road Stunt: KZN Driver Hands Himself In After Viral Car Dance Video

A motorist in KwaZulu-Natal has landed in trouble after a widely shared video showed him performing risky antics on a public road. In the clip, the driver can be seen partially outside the vehicle while it is moving, balancing on the side steps and steering with one hand as he dances.

Passengers inside the car appear to encourage the behaviour, while one voice in the background remarks, “You’re not right.”

The footage quickly spread online, raising serious concerns about road safety and reckless driving.

Driver Hands Himself Over as Authorities Respond

KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma confirmed that the individual later presented himself to the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) in Pinetown.

Addressing the incident, the MEC made it clear: “No driver stunts are allowed,” warning motorists about the consequences of ignoring traffic laws and putting lives at risk.

Officials stated that the RTI interviewed the driver and are currently assessing what action should be taken.

“We welcome the fact that the driver doesn’t drink alcohol and he is remorseful. He regrets his action and is prepared to reshape his life for the better,” the department said.

National Road Traffic Act: What the Law Says

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport reiterated that the incident took place on a public road frequently used by motorists, making the behaviour even more dangerous.

“Our hard-working and efficient RTI and Operation Shanela teams have a responsibility to protect motorists, passengers, and other road users from harm by enforcing laws, managing road safety and reducing the likelihood of accidents,” the department said.

Authorities also reminded the public of the National Road Traffic Act, which clearly prohibits unsafe conduct.

According to the law, drivers may not allow any part of their body to extend outside a moving vehicle on a public road. They are also required to remain fully in control of the vehicle at all times and maintain a clear view of the road ahead.
