Shebeshxt Faces Urgent Leg Surgery As New Bail Application Approaches Court Hearing

Limpopo musician Shebeshxt is reportedly in urgent need of medical intervention as his ongoing legal battle for bail continues in court.

The artist, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, has been behind bars since November 2025 following multiple unsuccessful attempts to secure his release.

He faces a string of serious charges, including attempted murder, robbery and firearm-related offences. Courts have previously ruled that he failed to show “exceptional circumstances” required to justify bail.

As proceedings continue, concerns are mounting over his health, with reports indicating that he requires immediate surgical treatment.

Urgent Surgery Needed For Complications From Previous Injury

Medical expert Dr Chaba has indicated that the musician requires an urgent procedure on his right leg.

The operation, known as Open Reduction Internal Fixation, is reportedly necessary to address complications linked to a screw inserted after a car accident in June 2024.

According to Buzz Life, the doctor has cautioned that any delay in performing the surgery could result in serious consequences.

If left untreated, the condition could worsen, potentially leading to severe pain and even deformation of the leg.

Fresh Bail Application To Be Filed Amid Ongoing Detention

Despite the medical urgency, Shebeshxt remains in custody while his legal team prepares a renewed attempt to secure bail.

His lawyer, Michael Khumalo, confirmed in court that they are working on a new application, stating they intend to proceed “for the purposes of an application for bail based on new facts”.

Prosecutors have consistently opposed his release, arguing that the case against him is strong and maintaining that he could pose a risk if granted bail. Previous court rulings also raised concerns that releasing him might “undermine the criminal justice system”.
