Shauwn Mkhize: Age Is Just A Number, But Maybe Not A TikTok Trend

Shauwn Mkhize, the fearless businesswoman in her 50s, recently caused quite a stir on social media with a sizzling video of herself enjoying a swim in a pool. Donning a vibrant green swimsuit, she confidently showcased her moves, leaving viewers in awe.
However, as with anything on the internet, not everyone had kind words to say. Social media users flooded the comments section with mixed reviews, with a majority shaming Shauwn for seemingly trying to compete with the younger influencers in the game.

One user lamented, âWhat kind of society will we have when old people donât want to be our respected elders?â Another commented, âAdults chasing the popularity they missed out on as teenagers are the worst.â
And yet another added, âItâs important to go through all stages in life so that when youâre old, you donât start doing things that will embarrass you like this. Which stage did you skip, Aunty? I know itâs your life, but akubukeki.â
While itâs understandable that some may question Shauwnâs motives or feel uncomfortable with the idea of older individuals embracing trends typically associated with younger generations, itâs important to remember that age is just a number.
Life is about embracing new experiences, regardless of how old we are.
