Shashi Naidoo Loses Hundreds Of Followers After Iran Support Post

South African model Shashi Naidoo has thrown herself into the centre of another global firestorm — and Mzansi is not keeping quiet.

As tensions escalate in the Middle East following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Naidoo’s social media commentary has sparked fierce debate, with supporters cheering her on and critics calling her out.

The outspoken beauty has landed in hot water after weighing in on the escalating conflict in the Middle East, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran that reportedly killed the country’s supreme leader.

Iran has since launched retaliatory attacks on US-allied Gulf states, with some strikes reportedly affecting civilian-linked infrastructure and energy facilities.

Shashi Naidoo’s Iran Post Divides Social Media

On Sunday, 1 March 2026, Naidoo took to Facebook to post a message that read: “God bless the people of Iran 🙏”.

The post featured a short clip of her sipping champagne, overlaid with a cheeky caption referencing the “Epstein files” and how unfolding events were “hijacking the headlines.” The tongue-in-cheek tone immediately sparked debate online, with critics accusing her of trivialising a serious geopolitical crisis.

Supporters, however, defended her right to speak out — especially given her long-standing public support for Palestine.

But Shashi wasn’t done.

Middle East Conflict Reactions: “Linda, You Might Miss Your Holiday”

In a follow-up post on Monday, 2 March, Naidoo shifted her focus to the United Arab Emirates, writing: “God bless the people of the UAE 🙏”.

In a video recorded while driving, she mocked social media users who were more concerned about cancelled Dubai holidays than the unfolding conflict.

“I think for me, probably the wildest thing about these bombings that I’m seeing online is the reactions,” she said with a chuckle.

She went on to parody comments from people worried about their upcoming trips.

“Linda is saying that you have a holiday there next week, what’s gonna happen? I think you’re gonna miss your holiday, Linda. World War 3 might be starting, I think.”

She didn’t stop there.

“Rachel says that she was there just a year ago. ‘I was just there a year ago. That could have been me.’ No, Rachel. That was a year ago. Not everything has to be about you.”

Followers Drop — But Shashi Doubles Down

Instead of issuing an apology, Naidoo revealed that she had lost hundreds of followers following her posts. But rather than softening her stance, she posted yet another video — this time poking fun at those who unfollowed her.

Mzansi social media is now split down the middle.

Some argue that global conflict isn’t a punchline and that influencers should tread carefully. Others say she’s highlighting uncomfortable truths about privilege and misplaced priorities.
