Severe Weather Warning With Strong Winds, Flooding, In North West And Free State

South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued severe weather warnings for Saturday, 1 March, with thunderstorms threatening floods and damage in North West and Free State, while extreme fire danger is expected in the Western Cape.

Weather Warnings
Severe Thunderstorms (Yellow Level 2 Warning)
Expected in the central and eastern parts of North West and the eastern parts of Free State.
Risks: Strong damaging winds, localised flooding, fast-flowing streams, and damage to infrastructure.
Fire Danger Alert
Extremely high fire risk over the Breede Valley Municipality in the Western Cape.

Gauteng
Weather: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga
Weather: Morning fog patches along the escarpment; cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Exceptions: Lowveld will be partly cloudy and hot.
Limpopo
Weather: Morning fog patches along the escarpment; partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Exceptions: Lowveld and Limpopo Valley will remain dry.
North West
Weather: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Free State
Weather: Morning fog patches in the east; cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Exceptions: Isolated showers over the southwestern parts.
Northern Cape
Weather: Morning fog patches along the coast; partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in central and eastern areas.
Western Cape
Weather: Cloudy with morning fog patches along the west coast; partly cloudy and warm, but hot in interior areas.
Rain Alert: Isolated showers and rain expected over the south coast and adjacent interior from the afternoon.
Sunburn Risk: Extreme UVB index – precaution advised.
Eastern Cape
Western Half: Morning fog patches; partly cloudy and warm to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, extending to the coast overnight.
Eastern Half: Morning fog patches; partly cloudy and warm to cool with scattered showers and thundershowers (isolated along the coast).
KwaZulu-Natal
Weather: Morning fog patches over the interior; partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the west.
Sunburn Risk: High UVB index – precaution advised.
