Seven Dead In Devastating N12 Crash After Vehicle Crosses Into Oncoming Traffic

Seven people lost their lives in a tragic collision on the N12 between Ogies and Emalahleni on Monday morning. The crash involved a sedan and a Nissan light delivery vehicle (LDV), leaving no survivors.
According to the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, the two vehicles collided after one of them allegedly lost control, left its lane and crossed into oncoming traffic.

All the occupants of both vehicles died at the scene.
The department highlighted that the N12 has a wide median separating the lanes, suggesting the vehicle that crossed over may have been travelling at high speed before impact.
High-Speed Impact Suspected in Fatal N12 Crash
Five people — two women and three men — were travelling in the sedan, while the Nissan LDV carried two men.
“The investigation into the collision by the police, Road Traffic Management Corporation and the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, is already underway. However, reckless negligent driving cannot be ruled out,” Mmusi said.

Authorities confirmed that police, the Road Traffic Management Corporation and the provincial safety department have launched a full investigation. “Authorities say reckless or negligent driving cannot be ruled out at this stage,” added Mmusi.
Mpumalanga MEC Urges Motorists to Drive With Extreme Caution
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, called on road users to remain vigilant at all times.
“Let us all be cautious on the road to curb needless loss of life and injury. We should all endeavour to abide by the rules of the road at all times,” Macie said.
The department stated that additional details will be released as investigations progress.
