Top Cop Fannie Nkosi’s Home Raided In Explosive Crime Probe

Police have executed a search-and-seizure warrant at the home of controversial officer Fannie Nkosi in Pretoria North.
The operation reportedly began shortly after 09:00 on Thursday, with officers clearing the property of occupants, including Nkosi’s wife, before proceeding with the search.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that authorities carried out a J51 search-and-seizure operation in the area as part of ongoing investigations. However, she did not name the individual linked to the property due to the sensitivity of the case.
Nkosi’s Madlanga Commission Testimony Sparks Criminal Investigation
Nkosi recently testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where he spent more than six days on the stand.
During the hearings, he was accused of lying and being an uncooperative witness. His name has since been included among those referred for further investigation over suspected wrongdoing.
He is believed to be one of five police officers under scrutiny following revelations at the commission, which is probing allegations of corruption, political interference and organised crime within the criminal justice system.
The other officers named include Lesetja Senona, Richard Shiburi, Mbangwa Nkhwashu and Rachel Matjeng.
Alleged Links to Crime Syndicates and Tender Scandal Deepen Probe
Investigators suspect Nkosi acted as a go-between for senior police officials and alleged underworld figures, including individuals linked to the so-called “Big 5” cartel.
Evidence presented at the commission included video footage and claims that Nkosi collected money from the home of alleged murderer Katiso Molefe, allegedly on behalf of his superior, Shadrack Sibiya.
Further WhatsApp communications are said to show Nkosi acting as a conduit between controversial tender figure Vusimuzi Matlala — also known as “Cat” — and various police and underworld contacts.

Additional claims suggest Nkosi shared sensitive police information with taxi industry figures and alleged criminal networks, and may have received payments from individuals who were under active investigation.
The raid follows the recent arrest of 12 senior police officials and the summoning of national police commissioner Fannie Masemola in connection with a multi-million rand tender linked to Matlala.
Police have confirmed that the search forms part of a broader, ongoing investigation.
