Senzo Meyiwa Trial: First Accused Shows Alleged Police Wounds In Court

Muzi Sibiya, the first accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, returned to the witness stand this week as the defence’s opening witness, showing wounds on his wrists he claims were inflicted by police during his arrest.
The State alleges that Sibiya acted as one of the watchmen on the day the football star was shot dead.

Sibiya told the court he was assaulted by police who forced him to sign a confession. While he previously stated the injuries were not visible, he now pointed out several marks on his wrists.

He claimed that Colonel Nhlanganyelwa Mbotho, the officer involved in obtaining the confession, had seen the wounds.
