Senzo Mchunu’s Chief Of Staff Claims Police Raid Targeted Him, Brother Assaulted

Cedrick Nkabinde, the chief of staff to on-leave Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, has spoken out after law enforcement officers raided his home, claiming he is being unfairly targeted. The incident, he says, escalated when police allegedly assaulted his brother during the operation.
Nkabinde told reporters in Sandton on Thursday that he believes the police mistook his brother for him during the raid, which occurred late Wednesday night.
Seizure of Electronic Devices Under Investigation
According to Nkabinde, officers arrived at his residence to confiscate electronic devices as part of an ongoing investigation. He responded publicly to some of the allegations made against him, insisting that the operation was unnecessary and that he has been singled out.
“This has been an ongoing issue where it seems there is a target on my back,” Nkabinde stated during the media briefing.

The incident has drawn significant attention as questions mount over the conduct of the police during the operation. Nkabinde’s public statement adds to scrutiny surrounding the investigation and the treatment of his family members.
He emphasised that the raid was focused on him, not his brother, and called for clarity regarding the police’s actions.
