‘Nothing To Hide’: Senzo Mchunu Submits Phones And Laptops To Investigators

Suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu has confirmed that he has handed over his electronic devices to investigators amid a widening probe into alleged criminal syndicates operating within South Africa’s law enforcement and intelligence structures.

The veteran politician, who was placed on suspension in July, said the move formed part of his commitment to full cooperation and transparency in the ongoing investigations.

Senzo Mchunu Cooperates in Police Syndicate Investigation

The investigation follows explosive claims by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who alleged that elements of a criminal network have infiltrated state security and intelligence agencies.

Two parliamentary committees are currently investigating the veracity of these allegations, which have rocked the country’s policing sector.

Mchunu’s spokesperson, Sthembiso Mshengu, confirmed in a statement that Mchunu voluntarily submitted his devices to police on Thursday.

“He has nothing to hide and welcomes any lawful investigation aimed at clarifying facts and upholding the integrity of public office,” Mshengu said.

‘Committed to Accountability’ — Mchunu

The former minister said he remained confident that due process would confirm his actions were lawful, ethical, and consistent with his duties as a member of the executive.

“Mchunu reaffirms his commitment to transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law,” the statement read.

As investigations continue, Mchunu has urged the public to allow authorities the space to complete their work without speculation or interference.
