Senior DPP Official Charged With Rape Of 16 Year Old

A 47-year-old senior official from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Limpopo division appeared in court charged with two counts of rape.

The accused is charged for sexually abusing the victim on several occasions since 2022.

Case Postponed

The case has been postponed to May 8 for profiling and a possible bail application.

The accused’s arrest followed the victim’s disclosure of the abuse to her mother, who then reported the matter to the police, and was subsequently charged.

In a separate case but similar case, Cheslyn Matroos, 41, was sentenced to two life sentences plus 22 years for gender-based violence-related crimes.

The suspect is accused of rape, attempted rape, assault, and kidnapping.

The court rejected Matroos’s claim that the sexual acts were consensual.
