Security Breach As Military Gear Found With Civilian

Following a security breach, some suspected criminals have been identified with South African National Defence Force (SANDF) uniforms, unlicensed firearms, “mine explosives,” ammunition, and vehicles. This has led opposition MP Mlondi Mdluli to demand immediate explanations from key government ministers.

DA MP for the uMzinyathi constituency in KwaZulu-Natal, Mlondi Mdluli, has demanded a response and clarification from the Defence and Military Veterans Minister, Angie Motshekga, and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on how state-issued military equipment is armed by the civilian. His concerns follow a police operation in the uMzinyathi district municipality, which uncovered these illegal items.

One of the police officer confirmed that a suspect appeared in the Greytown magistrate’s court on Friday, while other unnamed suspects may have been arraigned in the Glencoe magistrate’s court.

Mdluli, highlighted the potential involvement of organized crime and possible complicity within state security structures. Also, he pledged to closely monitor court proceedings to ensure justice is served.
