Private Security Officer Caught On Camera Beating Pedestrian

A disturbing video has surfaced on social media, showing a private security officer from the Civil Defence Force (CDF) beating a pedestrian with his baton in Durbanville.

The altercation began with a verbal exchange between the two, with the officer heard saying, “Moenie saam my k@k praat nie. Ek sal vir jou moer” (“Don’t talk to me like that. I’ll hit you”).

Escalating Situation

The situation quickly escalated, with the pedestrian responding, “Vir wie? Jy maak staat op die klere uniform” (“Who are you doing this for? You’re just relying on your uniform”).

The two continued arguing and shoving each other, until the pedestrian told the officer, “You are wrong, you can’t hit that man, it just shows how dumb you are.”

The officer then beat the pedestrian with his baton and grabbed him, before another CDF officer intervened.

CDF Responds To Incident

The CDF has released a public statement, assuring the public that the footage does not reflect their values and professional standards.

They claim that their officers were making an arrest when an individual interfered and became aggressive, leading to the situation escalating.
