Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Has Been Sentenced To 50 Months In Prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over four years in prison following his conviction on prostitution-related charges involving two of his former girlfriends.

The 55-year-old music executive faced a tense federal trial in New York City that lasted nearly two months. Prosecutors accused him of using his fame and influence to orchestrate sex encounters under coercion, while the defense argued that he was reformed and had already paid for his mistakes.

Judge Arun Subramanian ultimately handed down a 50-month sentence, saying it was necessary to deliver a strong message. Before the sentencing, Combs addressed the court directly for the first time since the trial began, offering apologies to his victims and family.

“My actions were disgusting, shameful, and sick,” Combs admitted. “I got lost in excess, I got lost in my ego.”

He also turned to his children, most of whom were present in court, saying: “I’m so sorry. They deserved better.”

Prosecution Pushes for Harsher Sentence in Diddy’s Case

Prosecutors initially requested an 11-year sentence, citing Combs’ history of domestic violence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik told the court that a lighter punishment would “let the defendant get away with years of domestic violence and abuse.”

She highlighted harrowing testimonies from ex-girlfriends Casandra Ventura and “Jane,” who described violent abuse, coercion, and trauma that would “last a lifetime.” Photos of their alleged injuries were also presented in court.

“This is a defendant who will pose a danger at any age,” Slavik argued, adding that Combs’ power and wealth allowed him to maintain control over the women.

The conviction was secured under the Mann Act of 1910, which criminalises transporting women across state lines for prostitution or other immoral purposes. While Combs was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, he was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Defence Argues Transformation and Remorse

Combs’ legal team pushed for a 14-month sentence, stressing that he had already served 13 months in a New York jail and was a changed man. Attorney Nicole Westmoreland described him as an inspiration, citing his business achievements and contributions to the music and fashion industries.

“Mr Combs personally inspired me,” she told the court, holding back tears. His attorneys also pointed to his “untreated trauma and a ferocious drug addiction” as major factors behind his behaviour.

Several of Combs’ children spoke on his behalf, pleading with the judge for mercy. His daughter Delila, 18, said: “We can’t watch our baby sister grow up fatherless the same way we grew up motherless… Please, please give our family the chance to heal.”

Despite these emotional appeals, Judge Subramanian concluded that the severity of Combs’ actions warranted a firm sentence. He noted that while Combs’ philanthropic work and family ties were considered, the abuse of his ex-girlfriends could not be ignored.

“You abused them, physically, emotionally and psychologically,” the judge said. “This was subjugation. This is the reality of what happened.”

Combs will receive credit for the 13 months already served and must also pay a $500,000 fine. His legal team has confirmed plans to appeal the ruling.
