Schoolchildren Among 20 Injured As Bus Overturns In KZN

At least 20 people, including several schoolchildren, were injured following a bus crash in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

The accident occurred on Annet Drive in the Reservoir Hills area, west of Durban, during peak morning traffic. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports that a bus transporting passengers had overturned.

The incident caused widespread disruption in the area as authorities moved in to manage the aftermath.

Bus With Schoolchildren Overturns

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson confirmed that emergency personnel were actively treating victims at the scene.

“ALS Paramedics is currently on the scene of a bus that is overturned, coming to rest on its side, where multiple casualties, including multiple children on the way to school, have been injured. Approximately 15 to 20 people, including children, have been injured in this collision.”

Several ambulances and emergency response teams were deployed to stabilise and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Road Closed as Police Launch Investigation

Jamieson said the crash resulted in a full road closure, with traffic expected to be affected for an extended period.

“The entire roadway is closed and will be closed for some time. Once emergency personnel treat and transport the injured to the hospital, the recovery operation will start.

“I’d advise motorists to avoid this area at all costs. Multiple ALS Paramedics and ambulances are in attendance, attending to the injured. Saps and Metro Police are in attendance, and will be investigating further,” Jamieson said.

Authorities have urged motorists to seek alternative routes while investigations and recovery operations continue.
