Scandal! Bids Farewell: e.tv Confirms Iconic Soap To End After 20 Years On-Air

South Africa’s TV landscape is about to change forever — Scandal!, one of the country’s longest-running and most-loved soap operas, is officially coming to an end.
e.tv has confirmed that the multi-award-winning drama will broadcast its final episode in June 2026, closing the curtain on more than 20 years of gripping storylines, unforgettable characters, and prime-time dominance.

“The ever-changing television landscape requires broadcasters to consistently review all programming and scheduling, and we believe that Scandal! has reached the end of its life cycle,” e.tv said in a statement.
The broadcaster extended its gratitude to production powerhouse Ochre Media, applauding the team for their creativity and partnership over the years.
Helga Palmer, Group Head of Local Programming and Strategy at eMedia, paid tribute to the cast, crew, writers, and directors who made the show a household name:
“We are proud of what Scandal! has achieved, not only as a top-rated television property but also as a vital part of South Africa’s cultural landscape.”
The Cast and Crew Say Goodbye

Executive Producer Stan Joseph also reflected on the show’s two-decade run:
“Producing Scandal! has been an incredible journey and a true labour of love. For close to twenty years, our writers, directors, actors, and crew have poured their hearts into bringing authentic South African stories to life. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, we are proud of the legacy Scandal! leaves behind.”
