Saulsville Mass Shooting: One Arrested As Police Recover Firearm In Gauteng Breakthrough

Police in Gauteng have announced a significant development in the investigation into the deadly Saulsville mass shooting, confirming the arrest of one suspect connected to the attack.

The shooting, which took place more than two weeks ago, left 12 people dead after three gunmen opened fire at patrons inside an unlicensed tavern in Tshwane. Among the victims was a three-year-old child, while more than a dozen others sustained injuries.

Authorities confirmed that a 32-year-old man was arrested on Sunday. He is believed to be one of three suspects linked to the attack that shocked the community and drew national attention.

Firearm Recovered in Saulsville Shooting Investigation

Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said officers recovered a firearm during the arrest, which may be central to the investigation.

“During the arrest, the team recovered an unlicensed firearm, a handgun, believed to have been used in the commission of the multiple murders. The firearm will be taken to the Forensic Science Laboratory for ballistic analysis,” said Muridili.

The recovery is expected to play a key role in linking suspects to the crime scene as forensic processes continue.

Suspect’s Court Appearances and Ongoing Manhunt

Muridili confirmed that the suspect is expected to make his first court appearance on a firearm-related charge before facing additional charges later in the week.

“The suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrates Court today, 22 December 2025. He is facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“He will then be transferred to Gauteng to face the full might of the law. The manhunt for the remaining two suspects is continuing.”

Police have urged anyone with information related to the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to come forward as investigations continue.
