SAPS Seizes Millions Worth Of Illicit Drugs In Derdepoort Storage Facility Raid

The South African Police Service (SAPS) National Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit has seized huge amount of steroids, and other performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), during a raid.
The items were discovered at a self-storage facility in Derdepoort on Wednesday, 05 March 2025.

This was according to a statement made available on Thursday by SAPS.
According to the statement, the confiscated substances have an estimated street value of R15 million, marking a major victory in the ongoing battle against illegal drug distribution.
The bust follows a previous operation on 11 February 2025, where six suspects were arrested as part of an investigation into a drug syndicate.
Although, charges against two of the suspects have been provisionally withdrawn, the follow-up investigation has now revealed the location of the drug stash.
The Detectives were led to the self-storage facility, where they uncovered a substantial quantity of illicit substances.
Detective Investigation Uncovers Drug Stash

Preliminary investigations indicated that the syndicate was operating an online platform, using it as a means to trade and distribute scheduled medicines, steroids, stimulants, and other illicit drugs to consumers.
The raid has disrupted the illegal network, which had been distributing performance-enhancing drugs and other harmful substances to various buyers.
Curbing Availability Of Illicit Drugs
The SAPS have described the ongoing investigation into the syndicate’s operations has been described as a major step forward in curbing the availability of illicit drugs.
The Police Service has reiterated commitment to continue its efforts in dismantling drug networks and bringing perpetrators to justice.

“The seizure of such a large quantity of dangerous substances is a clear indication of the ongoing fight against narcotics and the online trade of illegal drugs,” the Statement noted.
