SANDF Tek Base Burgled, R4 Rifles And Grenade Launcher Stolen

A burglary at a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) base in Lyttelton has led to the theft of weapons, including three R4 rifles and a grenade launcher.

The incident at Tek Base was discovered on April 27 at around midday.

“A member of the South African National Defence Force discovered a break-in at a storeroom upon returning from an official funeral in Mafikeng, North West,” the SANDF said.

Weapons Missing After SANDF Base Forced Entry

Officials said the storeroom’s burglar door had been forcibly opened. Early findings suggest suspects may have gained access by cutting through the perimeter fence.
