Good Samaritan Shot During Attempted Hijacking In Verulam, KZN

A hijacking attempt unfolded early Sunday morning in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, leaving a Good Samaritan injured. The incident occurred at around 02:31 on Jabu Ngcobo Road when a man was shot while assisting a stranded motorist.

Attempted Hijacking

According to reports, a female driver was en route to Ndwedwe, KZN, when her white VW Polo sedan suffered a puncture.

A passing motorist stopped to assist when the situation took a dangerous turn. A white Nissan NP200 bakkie with unknown registration plates blocked both vehicles, and its occupants attempted to rob the stranded driver and hijack one of the vehicles.

During the altercation, the Good Samaritan, who had been helping the stranded driver, was shot in his arm. The suspects quickly fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.

Investigation Underway

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene following reports of the shooting. The injured man received treatment for his injuries on-site before being transported to a medical facility for further care.

Authorities are investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to locate the suspects involved.
