Royal AM Expelled From PSL Amid Financial Chaos

Royal AM’s troubles have finally caught up with them. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially expelled the club from the league with immediate effect, marking the end of a turbulent period for Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize’s team.
What Went Wrong?
The club has been in financial turmoil for months, with unpaid salaries, legal battles, and a tax dispute with the SA Revenue Service (SARS) over an alleged R40-million tax bill. Royal AM hasn’t played a PSL match since December 29, with their fixtures postponed after SARS placed the club under curatorship.

According to the PSL, Royal AM:
- Failed to meet its obligations to the league
- Misrepresented information in their membership renewal application
- Illegally transferred shares
As a result, the PSL terminated their membership, reducing the league to 15 teams. The team that finishes 15th will now enter the promotion/relegation playoffs instead of automatic relegation.
Already Expelled from the Nedbank CupBefore this, Royal AM was booted from the Nedbank Cup after missing games due to their off-field issues. Their last official match was a 3-1 loss to TS Galaxy on December 29, and they haven’t played since.
