Ronwen Williams Steals The Show At 2024 CAF Awards

South Africa’s star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams emerged as the only double winner at the glittering 2024 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco.

He clinched both the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year and Men’s Interclub Player of the Year Awards.

Williams’ unforgettable penalty saves during the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year have cemented his legacy.

At 32, he led South Africa to a bronze medal and helped his club, Mamelodi Sundowns, secure their seventh consecutive league title.

The night’s other big winners included Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and Zambia’s Barbra Banda.

Lookman, who dazzled with Italian side Atalanta and Nigeria’s Super Eagles, was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year.

Banda, honoured as the Women’s Player of the Year, dominated the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League in the United States, guiding Orlando Pride to the NWSL Shield and Championship title.

Notably, she scored a hat-trick for Zambia at the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking her third hat-trick in Olympic football.
