2 Robbery Suspect Arrested In Verulam

A highly sought-after robbery suspect has been arrested in the Verulam CBD, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) this morning, Monday April 7, 2025.

This is following a tip-off from a vigilant robbery victim from the past.

The incident unfolded around in the morning when the victim, who had been robbed in March 2025, spotted two men he recognized as the perpetrators.

He immediately contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) to report the sighting and suspected that the pair was planning to rob someone else.

Arrest

RUSA officers quickly responded to the scene, only to witness the suspects fleeing in separate directions.

One of the robbers was apprehended after a short foot chase, while his accomplice managed to escape into nearby bushes along the R102.

Despite an extensive search in the area, the second suspect remains at large.

The arrested individual, a 24-year-old male, was confirmed by the complainant as one of the robbers responsible for the March theft.

Robbery Linked To Multiple Knifepoint Attacks In Verulam CBD

The arrested suspect is believed to be involved in several robberies where pedestrians were targeted at knifepoint in the Verulam CBD.

The victim of the March incident had his backpack, containing a Samsung A05 cellphone, wallet, bank cards, and R50 in cash, stolen during the attack.

The suspect was subsequently detained at SAPS Verulam, where authorities are working to link him to other similar crimes in the area.
