Robber Hospitalised After Being Shot By His Accomplice During Business Robbery

Police in Limpopo have made an arrest following an armed robbery at a shop in Polokwane. The incident occurred when a scuffle broke out between one of the robbers and the shop staff, resulting in a gunshot.

According to Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a group of armed suspects entered the store and threatened the shop staff with a gun. The staff member was assisting customers at the paypoint when the robbers entered.

During the robbery, one of the employees managed to close the steel door, leading to a confrontation between the suspect with the firearm and the staff member. A fight ensued, and a shot was fired, injuring one of the suspects.

In the chaos that followed, customers and three of the robbers fled the scene in different directions, leaving behind the injured suspect. However, before escaping, the assailants managed to steal an undisclosed amount of money from the cash registers.

Police were alerted to the incident and swiftly responded. The injured suspect, believed to be around 30 years old, was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical treatment under police guard.

A case of business robbery and attempted murder has been opened by the police. The arrested suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
