Richard Mdluli Requests To Address Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee Over Corruption Allegations

Retired Crime Intelligence Head, Richard Mdluli, has asked Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on National Security Concerns to allow him to make a formal presentation. Mdluli made the request through his legal representatives, who submitted a letter to the committee on his behalf.

According to the letter, Mdluli expressed that he is “deeply aggrieved” by adverse allegations made against him during the committee’s ongoing hearings. He maintains that the accusations have damaged his reputation and wants a fair chance to address them publicly.

The Ad Hoc Committee was established to investigate claims of criminal infiltration, corruption, and political interference within South Africa’s justice and security sectors.

These allegations stemmed from remarks made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing in July, where he raised concerns about the deep-rooted issues affecting law enforcement and national security structures.

Richard Mdluli Says He Was Never Invited to Present His Version

In his lawyers’ letter, Mdluli emphasised that he has not been invited to appear before the committee, despite his name being repeatedly cited as a symbol of corruption and institutional decay.

The letter argues that Mdluli should be given an opportunity to present his side of the story and respond to the serious allegations that have emerged throughout the committee’s inquiry.
