Retired EMPD Deputy Chief Claims Acting Deputy Mkhwanazi Was Present During Illegal Copper Confiscation

Retired Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Deputy Chief, Revo Spies, has made explosive allegations against Acting Deputy EMPD Chief, Julius Mkhwanazi, claiming he was present when officers illegally seized copper cables from a Meyerton business.

Spies took the stand before the Madlanga Commission on Monday, where he detailed what he described as unlawful actions by EMPD members during the incident. He asserted that the confiscation of the copper was not conducted according to legal procedures.

According to Spies, certain officers linked to Mkhwanazi have been implicated in illegal activities currently under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
