Rethabile Khumalo Throws Star-Studded Concert To Honour Late Mom Winnie

Singer Rethabile Khumalo is pulling out all the stops to honour her late mother, Winnie Khumalo, who would have celebrated 30 years in the music industry this year. Instead of the anniversary her mom had been planning, Rethabile is turning grief into celebration with a powerful tribute concert.

Winnie, best known for her hit Live My Life, passed away on January 7 after years of health struggles, including high blood pressure and asthma. Her death cut short her career plans, but her daughter is determined to keep her memory alive.

“I spoke to her as if she were still here. I thanked her for everything she gave me and promised to make her proud,” Rethabile said.

Live Your Life Legacy Concert in Soweto

The highly anticipated Live Your Life Legacy Concert will take place on October 4 at Soweto Meat Lovers Restaurant & Bar in Protea Glen. Rethabile has curated a line-up of artists who shared the stage with Winnie over the years, including Sello “Chicco” Twala, DJ Sbu, Trompies, and Nokwazi Dlamini.

“The line-up is made up of people she loved and admired and some whom she shared the stage with in the past,” Rethabile explained.

Rethabile Khumalo’s Journey of Healing and Growth

While still mourning, Rethabile has been making bold moves. She recently secured a BMW endorsement deal, launched Rethabile Khumalo’s Kitchen, and is working on deeply personal new music.

“She was not only my mother but also my mentor and my biggest supporter in both my personal and professional life,” she said. “Running a household, raising a child, and still pushing my career without her guidance has forced me to grow stronger and more resilient.”
