Relative Arrested For Rape At Family Gathering

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested by Cacadu police for allegedly raping his 38-year-old relative and attempting to rape her 28-year-old sister at a family traditional ceremony in Cacadu Extension.

The incident occurred on April 26, 2024, when the victims were allocated a room to sleep in at the homestead.

Brave Victims

According to reports, the suspect entered the room around 04:00 and raped the older victim, while attempting to rape the younger sister.

However, the younger victim bravely overpowered the suspect, switching on the lights and exposing his identity.

The suspect, who is already attending court for another rape case, apologized and pleaded with his family relatives not to report the matter to the police.

Justice

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear before Cacadu Magistrate’s Court.

District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph expressed sadness over the alarming rate of gender-based violence incidents and hopes for a retributive sentence if the suspect is found guilty.
