Reiger Park Drive-By Shooting Victims To Be Laid To Rest Under Heavy Police Presence

A heightened police presence is expected in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni, this morning as the community gathers to bid farewell to four of the six victims who lost their lives in last weekend’s drive-by shooting.

Six people were killed and three others injured when suspects, travelling in two vehicles, opened fire indiscriminately before fleeing the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that a joint funeral will be held for cousins Patricia Nieuwenhuys and Ruth Marais, while Royden Joseph and Danyelle Barlow will be buried separately.

Reiger Park: Police Maintain Vigil as Community Struggles to Heal

The fifth victim, Nomasonto Nkosi, will be laid to rest on Sunday, while the sixth victim will be repatriated for burial in their home country.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Anti-Gang Unit in connection with the shooting but was later released due to insufficient evidence.
