Ramaphosa Honours Nathi Mthethwa As ‘Selfless Leader’ At Official Funeral

President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid heartfelt tribute to the late Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa, describing him as a selfless leader devoted to public service and the struggle for freedom.
Mthethwa’s Special Official Funeral, Category 2, is currently taking place at the Siyabonga Sangweni Dondotha Stadium in KwaMbomambi, where dignitaries and community members have gathered to honour his legacy.

During his eulogy, President Ramaphosa emphasised Mthethwa’s unwavering dedication to the fight against injustice.

“Comrade Nathi Mthethwa never lost sight of what drew him to the struggle: the belief that injustice must be opposed, that people deserve dignity, they deserve rights and opportunity,” Ramaphosa said.
The President underlined how Mthethwa consistently prioritised service to the people above personal interests.

“He exhibited people before self. Friends and comrades say that he was disciplined, loyal and sometimes a bit controversial, but always believing that he was working for we the people,” Ramaphosa added.
