Ramaphosa Calls For Patience As Madlanga Commission Interim Report Awaits Final Outcomes

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appealed for public patience as the government processes recommendations contained in the interim report of the Madlanga Commission of Enquiry.

The President cautioned that the implementation process will take time, noting that the commission’s final report is only due for release in March.

Ramaphosa made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to the media on the sidelines of an engagement with SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter in Pretoria.

The Madlanga Commission was established in September last year, following the President’s directive that a report be delivered within three months. While that deadline has passed, only an interim report has been made public so far.

Madlanga Commission Interim Report and Expected March Timeline

The final report of the Madlanga Commission is now expected in March, a development that has drawn attention from both the public and political stakeholders.

The delay has raised questions, particularly as Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee continues with its own parallel processes related to the commission’s work.

Ramaphosa has acknowledged growing pressure for swift action against individuals implicated in the commission’s findings, with particular focus on suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Ramaphosa Responds to Calls for Immediate Action

Addressing the concerns, the President said he has accepted the recommendations outlined in the interim report. However, he stressed that further direction would depend on the commission’s final findings.

According to Ramaphosa, the government intends to follow due process, allowing the commission to complete its work before taking any additional steps based on its conclusions.
