Ramaphosa Breaks Silence On Suspended Arrest Warrants For Crime Intelligence Boss

President Cyril Ramaphosa has commented on the controversy surrounding suspended arrest warrants issued for senior Crime Intelligence officials, saying justice institutions must be allowed to perform their duties without interference.

His remarks come after the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) obtained warrants of arrest for Crime Intelligence head General Dumisani Khumalo and Major General Nosipho Madondo. The warrants were later suspended, sparking widespread public discussion.

Ramaphosa addressed the matter while leading the ANC’s voter registration campaign in KwaThema, Ekurhuleni.

“What is reported to be happening, to have happened about the arrest potential or otherwise of this and that is a matter that is just being debated. It’s just being discussed. In the end, institutions of justice must do their work. We want them to do their work and anything else is a matter that has to be done in accordance with the prescripts of our laws and the protocols that we have in policing.”

The president did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the suspended warrants.
