Probe Launched Into Carjacking Incident After Victim Found With Gunshot Wound In His Bedroom

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, at approximately 05:10, members of the Bloemfontein Flying Squad received crucial information from Tracker SA regarding a vehicle tampering signal they had received. The vehicle in question was a silver Opel Corsa Utility with Gauteng province registration numbers.

Upon investigation, the vehicle was discovered abandoned in an open space behind Phahameng Cemetery. Shockingly, all four wheels and the vehicle’s battery were missing. What made this case even more puzzling was the fact that no one had reported the vehicle as stolen or hijacked.

Further inquiries led the authorities to the owner of the vehicle, who was found at his residence in Phahameng bleeding from a bullet wound.

According to the victim’s report, he had arrived home at approximately 00:05 on March 14, 2024, when two unknown assailants suddenly attacked him. In an attempt to escape, he started running, but one of the suspects fired a shot, hitting him in the back.

The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Despite his injury, the victim managed to make his way back to his house, where he immediately called for emergency services. The vehicle was subsequently seized, and a case of carjacking was opened for further investigation.
