Pretoria Bloodbath: 10 Killed, Over 10 Injured In Saulsville Hostel Mass Shooting

Police have confirmed a deadly mass shooting at the Saulsville Hostel in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, where 10 people were gunned down and more than 10 others were wounded on Saturday.

“At least 10 people were killed in Saulsville, Pretoria. More than 10 were injured and have been taken to the hospital. District Commissioner Major Gen. Thine is on the scene,” said SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.

Emergency services transported the injured to nearby hospitals as police secured the crime scene.

Pretoria Shooting Follows Assassination of Witness D

The massacre comes just hours after the killing of Witness D, Marius “Vlam” van der Merwe, who was shot dead in front of his family in Brakpan on Friday night.

Van der Merwe, 41, recently gave testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, probing alleged corruption, the protection of criminal networks, and political interference in the justice system. He was ambushed shortly after 8pm.

National Commissioner to Brief Inquiry Chair

Brigadier Mathe confirmed that National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola will meet and brief Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga on the progress of the investigation into both the Saulsville killings and the assassination of Witness D.

Police remain on high alert, and no arrests have yet been made.

This is a developing story.
