Porsche Unveils New Cayenne Electric SUV: The Most Powerful Production Model Ever

Porsche has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated Cayenne Electric, and the early verdict is that the luxury SUV is an undeniable powerhouse.

The brand is already calling it the “most powerful production Porsche of all time,” and its headline-grabbing figures support that claim.

The fully electric Cayenne delivers up to 1,139hp (850kW), pushing it to a top speed of 162mph and enabling a blistering 0–60mph sprint in just 2.4 seconds.

These numbers dwarf the rear-wheel-drive Taycan sedan, which takes 4.5 seconds to reach the same speed. Performance will vary by configuration, but every model includes Porsche’s “push to pass” feature, offering a ten-second power boost that adds roughly 173hp for overtaking.

The brand also says the Cayenne Electric brings serious pulling strength. When correctly equipped, it can tow up to 3.5 tonnes — more than the weight of many modern pickup trucks, a remarkable feat for an electric SUV.

Ultra-Fast Charging and New EV Technology

Charging is another area where Porsche is pushing boundaries. The Cayenne Electric supports up to 400kW charging under ideal conditions, allowing the battery to jump from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.

It is also the first electric Porsche to offer inductive charging.

For added convenience, Porsche has fitted a Tesla Supercharger/NACS fast-charging port on the driver’s side, along with a CCS/AC port on the passenger side.

The SUV is also the first electric model in this category to feature the brand’s Active Ride hydraulic suspension system, previously seen on the Taycan and Panamera.

A Futuristic Interior With Porsche’s Largest Display Ever

Inside, the cabin centres around a dramatic new “Flow Display” — a vertically oriented screen that curves towards the bottom and serves as the largest display ever fitted in a Porsche.

It operates on the company’s latest operating system and is flanked by a 14.25-inch OLED instrument cluster. Buyers can also opt for a dedicated passenger display.

The updated OS introduces an AI-powered voice assistant capable of handling complex instructions.

According to Porsche, the system can adjust features such as climate settings, seat heating and ambient lighting while also incorporating information like traffic conditions and nearby points of interest.

Pricing and Availability

As expected, all this innovation comes at a steep cost. The standard Cayenne Electric starts at $111,000, while the Cayenne Turbo Electric begins at $165,350. Pre-orders are already open, and Porsche expects customer deliveries to start in the summer.
