KZN businessman Vivian Reddy has recently found himself at the center of controversy, as he has been mistaken for an MK member in the province and accused of funding political parties ahead of this year’s elections.
Visvin Reddy, who is a close associate of former president Jacob Zuma, has managed to avoid corruption charges for several years. However, the allegations against him have raised questions about his involvement in politics and his relationship with the MK party.
In response to the claims, Reddy took to social media to deny any involvement in funding or establishing political parties. He referred to the allegations as baseless and fake news spread by certain devious propaganda social media accounts. Reddy made it clear that he has no association with any parliamentary list of any political party.
One of the reasons for the confusion surrounding Vivian Reddy’s alleged involvement with the MK party is the similarity of his name to that of a politician named Visvin Reddy.
Vivian Reddy emphasized that despite the similarity in their names, they are two different individuals. It is important to note that Vivian Reddy has no association with any political party, whereas Visvin Reddy has recently appeared in court for allegedly inciting public violence.
“There are certain devious, propaganda social media accounts that have been spreading misinformation, claiming that I am funding or establishing political parties. I deny these baseless allegations as fake news,” said Vivian Reddy.

Reacting to the ANC taking the MK party to court over its registration, Visvin Reddy warned that if the party was not allowed to campaign and be on the ballot paper, it could potentially lead to civil unrest and even a civil war. This statement further fueled speculation about his alleged involvement with the MK party.

Following Visvin Reddy’s appearance in court, the MK party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, stated that any members who incite violence would be disciplined, with the possibility of expulsion.
He made it clear that the party does not tolerate any pronouncements of violence and that members who engage in such behaviour will face severe consequences. This statement was also directed towards MK youth leader Bonginkosi Khanyile, who received a warning for his actions.
