The Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy leader, Kenny Kunene, has expressed a strong interest in taking control of the Home Affairs department.
His fervour is driven by a passion to eradicate corrupt officials as discussions about a Government of National Unity (GNU) continue.
Kunene has articulated that his primary objective is to eliminate corrupt officials within the Home Affairs department, specifically targeting those who provide illegal immigrants with identification documents without following proper procedures.
This issue has been a significant concern for the PA, which aims to secure the nation’s borders effectively.
According to Kunene, the influx of illegal immigrants has adversely affected the job market for young South Africans. He argues that companies are more inclined to employ illegal immigrants, thereby depriving local youth of employment opportunities.
His strategy involves the mass deportation of illegal immigrants to address this issue. The PA’s slogan, ‘abahambe abahambe’ (let them go, let them go), encapsulates this vision.

Despite the PA garnering only 2.05% of the votes in the May 29 election, which translates to eight seats in parliament, Kunene remains steadfast in his belief that no other party can be trusted to handle the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
He has accused the African National Congress (ANC) and other political parties of contributing to the problem, further solidifying the PA’s stance on taking decisive action.
