The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are taking decisive steps to address their significant loss in support during the general elections held on the 29th of May in KwaZulu-Natal.
The party’s Central Command Team, led by its officials, will spend the weekend visiting regions across the province. This initiative aims to understand the underlying reasons behind the sharp decline in voter support.
In the recent elections, the EFF saw their support plummet from 10 per cent to a mere two per cent in KwaZulu-Natal.

This drastic reduction translated into a loss of six provincial legislature seats, leaving the party with only two seats. The party leaders estimate a loss of approximately 300,000 votes, a stark contrast from their previous electoral performance.
EFF Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini emphasized the primary goal of this on-the-ground investigation. “We want to engage and listen to our structures. That’s the purpose of the work that we’re coming here to do,” Dlamini stated.
The central command team intends to gather insights from party members about possible issues and challenges during the elections. The party hopes to devise effective solutions and strategies for future success by understanding these factors.
To find a way forward, members of the EFF’s command team are deployed all over KwaZulu-Natal. They will be actively engaging with local party members to hear their perspectives on what might have gone wrong and what changes or strategies they propose.
This grassroots engagement is a piece of the party’s commitment to internal consultation and collective problem-solving.
