Qubudile Dyantyi, the chairperson of the Section 194 committee, has decided not to recuse himself from chairing the committee investigating the fitness of suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to take office.
Mkhwebane had asked Dyantyi to recuse himself once more, this time in a recusal application, stating that Dyantyi, ANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina, and the late Tina Joemat-Petterson sought to bribe her husband to close down the inquiry.
Dyantyi claims that Mkhwebane failed to submit all of the tapes on which she relied in her recusal application.
He goes on to say that, while he fully disclosed and provided screenshots of WhatsApp conversations between himself and the late Joemat-Petterson, Mkhwebane did not.
He denies bribing or soliciting bribes through the late Joemat-Petterson, or acting in any way that was unjust to Mkhwebane.
