Police Arrest Second Suspect Linked To Deadly Zithobeni Tavern Shooting That Claimed Five Lives

Police have made a breakthrough in the investigation into the tragic tavern shooting that left five people dead in Bronkhorstspruit’s Zithobeni Township earlier this month.
Authorities confirmed that the second suspect linked to the mass shooting was arrested on Friday during a targeted tracing operation in the same township where the deadly incident occurred.
The brutal attack unfolded when two armed men allegedly stormed a local tavern and opened fire, killing five patrons and injuring six others.
Firearm Recovered as Police Tighten Their Investigation
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili confirmed the arrest and said crucial evidence was recovered during the operation.

“The police recovered an unlicensed firearm with serial numbers filed off. He will be appearing before the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court on October 27, 2025,” Muridili stated.

The suspect faces five counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder. The first accused, identified as Musawenkosi Xulu, was taken into custody shortly after the incident and remains behind bars. He is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
Police continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting as the community reels from the senseless violence.
