WATCH| Police Seize Car Fitted With Siren At Robert Mugabe’s Son’s Hyde Park Home After Shooting

Police have seized a vehicle fitted with a siren — despite it not being an official police car — at the Hyde Park residence of the son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.

The car was confiscated after officers encountered it leaving the premises while returning to continue searching for a missing firearm linked to the earlier shooting. Two men and a woman were reportedly inside the vehicle at the time.

The development comes as investigations intensify following a shooting at the upmarket Johannesburg property.

Bellarmine Mugabe Questioned as Heavy Police Presence Descends on Hyde Park

Earlier, police questioned 29-year-old Bellarmine Mugabe in connection with the incident at the luxury estate in Hyde Park.

He was seen in handcuffs inside the residence while officers secured the scene. Bellarmine Mugabe and another unidentified individual were later also seen restrained at the property.

Members of the Special Task Force and hostage negotiators were deployed after reports that a security guard employed by the Mugabe family had allegedly been shot. Authorities were alerted after it was reported that Mugabe had barricaded himself inside a room and was refusing to allow police access through the gates of the estate.

Law enforcement officers remain on site and are expected to provide further clarity during a media briefing.

Two Charged With Attempted Murder as Search for Missing Gun Continues

Later, police confirmed that two men, aged 28 and 33, have been charged with attempted murder following the shooting at the Johannesburg home of Robert Mugabe.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said officers were alerted to the incident on Thursday by private security operating at the high-walled property.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly had to knock to gain entry to the premises.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing. Central to the probe is the firearm allegedly used in the attack, which has not yet been recovered.

Officers continue to search for the weapon as part of efforts to build their case. The suspects are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate Court.
