Gauteng Police Rescue Kidnapped Pakistani Businessman After Two Months

Gauteng police have successfully rescued a Pakistani businessman who had been kidnapped more than two months ago. The operation, conducted on Monday in Sebokeng, also led to the arrest of a woman, with further arrests expected.

Police Breakthrough After Two-Month Investigation

Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda van Wyk revealed that the breakthrough followed an extensive investigation into the kidnapping, which occurred in Lenasia over two months ago. Acting on a tip-off, a multi-disciplinary team identified a property in Sebokeng as the location where the businessman was being held.

Van Wyk confirmed that the kidnapped businessman was found in one of the rooms at the identified property. During the operation, the body of a man was also discovered, although no further details have been provided about the deceased. A female suspect was arrested at the scene, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the crime.

Call for Community Assistance

Van Wyk urged communities to report any incidents of kidnapping immediately to their nearest police station or via the SAPS Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111. She emphasised the importance of community cooperation in combating such crimes.
