KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi previously linked Mogotsi to Senzo Mchunu, who is currently on special leave following accusations of political meddling in police operations.

Mogotsi has been accused of being involved in efforts to disband the political task team, a move that reportedly angered Mkhwanazi.

Mogotsi was also named as an unauthorised person who allegedly had access to sensitive SAPS information.
